The first time the original iPad was released was back in 2010 and just as Apple revolutionized the smartphone industry with the iPhone, it also did the same with the tablet industry. Apple has already sold over 40 million units so far since the release of the iPad.

The Apple iPad 2 was step up in advancement as compared to the iPad 1 due to its faster processor, smaller screen size, and dual camera support. By the end of 2012 it is expected that the iPad 2 will have sold 48 million copies.

According to AppleInsider, Apple is looking into developing a waterproof iPhone 5 in cooperation with a company called HZO. HZO introduced a new technology called WaterBlock™ which coats the entire outside of the iPhone 5 at the molecular level so the insides are protected. The WaterBlock™ was showed at the 2012 CES show. We mentioned the long lines on Thursday, and you can see from the pictures that there was likely going to be a supply problem compared to the sheer number of people who showed up to buy phones. It turns out a large percentage of those who showed up were resellers who were paid to stand in line to buy their maximum two iPhones per person in order to “resell the phones right in front of the store at a hefty premium,” according to Chinese gadget blog M.I.C. Gadget.

According to eyewitness reports, fights broke out at Sanlitun among rival gangs of 30 to 50 ‘yellow bulls’ — migrant workers bused in by resellers and promised 120 yuan ($19) and a food allowance to stand in line. After waiting as much as 12 hours in temperatures that fell to -9°C, they were understandably angry when all they got for their trouble was their 10-yuan food allowance.

The Chinese blog M.I.C. Gadget reports that when an unidentified man with a bullhorn announced that the sale had been cancelled, the crowd chanted ‘Open the door!’ and ‘Liars!’ and began pelting the store with eggs.

According to reports, the Beijing store was supposed to open at 7 a.m. After some fights had broken out prior to that, Apple delayed the opening. That made the crowds angrier, and the raw eggs were hurled once the store decided to remain closed and not sell the phones. Pictures from the scene show that SWAT teams were called in to disperse the unruly crowd. Apple then decided to close its four other stores in China for the day.

It is still possible to buy the iPhone 4S in China, just not in a store for the time being. Instead Apple is pointing customers to its online store or carrier partners.

This is not the first time that violence has marred an Apple store event in China. A fight broke out at the same Beijing store when the white iPhone 4 first went on sale in May 2011.

Digitimes has been making numerous claims about Apple’s new products recently in the past few months. Not all of them are true but it does seem that they have somewhat insights into the Apple’s tablet devices. For now let’s just look into the timeline of the Apple products in the past years.

Apple launched its first iPhone in July 2007 followed up by iPhone 3G in the year 2008. The iPhone 3GS was released in the year 2009 in July followed up by the iPhone 4 in June 2010. The CDMA supporting iPhone 4 was then released in the same year as the release of iPhone 4S. But that doesn’t count as the CDMA iPhone 4 is somewhat the same as the simple iPhone 4 except the fact that it was set to work with a different cellular network technology. Same is the case with iPad, Apple launched its first iPad in 2010 followed by the iPad 2 in year 2011.

In other words Apple has been releasing one iteration per year of the iOS devices. So what can be change in strategy of the company to launch two iPads in one year, sabotaging the product they’ve just launched the same year? This question will yet remain unanswered.

According to Digitimes, however, “The 9.7-inch iPad 4 is expected to come with much upgraded hardware specifications and integrated applications so as to compete with an array of Android-, Wintel- or WoA (Windows on ARM)-based tablet PCs to be released in the fourth quarter.”

Earlier rumors state that the pre-orders will begin on September 9th, which would mean that the US version of the iPhone 5 will come soon.

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.
